As professionals we live by deadlines, sometimes unrealistic ones, a mental vacation is usually our best bet through the madness. John Muir’s popular saying, “The mountains are calling and I must go,” is easier said than done because reality makes travel a cumbersome process when it comes to taking time off.
Bridging this gap between need for speed and a staycation is Attra’s Holiday and Camping Farms set in Karjat, an unexplored valley of nature between Mumbai and Pune. Earlier this week I decided to take an impromptu trip to this rustic farmstay spread over ten acres of land adjoining the Morbe Dam on one side and a picturesque valley on the other.
Two hours down the road from Mumbai, I found my soul squealing with joy as this sprawling mango and coconut trees laden property embraced us in its terrain. Housing three bungalows, the spacious rooms can accommodate multiple groups. The beauty of this place that especially made me fall in love with it, is the fact that from everywhere you look you’re bound to get a view of the beautiful mountains. (The view is even better at this time of the year as mountains play peekaboo with the dark clouds.)
While the dreamy setting of this place amidst the nature is perfect to curl besides the pool (Yes, they have a clean private pool, no chlorine used) with a book; the set of activities were too alluring to miss. Trained professionals taught us riffle shooting and horse riding (It’s your moment to feel like bawse, because I sure felt like one.)
It would be criminal for one to miss a tour of the farm which is soon to see a football ground and another swimming pool to dive in. Trekking by the scenic valley proximate to Matheran and Rajmachi, we got an overview of the beautiful town. To conclude our stayaction, we visited Morbe Dam which with its pristine water and breeze serves as a haven for visitors.
While our 2 days long trip passed by in a jiffy, the staff at Attra’s pampered us with hospitality and warm authentic food freshly prepared in their kitchen. I have to take a dramatic long pause to announce that the Poha and Misal Pav for breakfast is their special preparation no one should miss!
If you’re looking at getaway options, ditch the obvious and take a trip to Attra’s Holiday and Camping Farms, you’ll be surprised to experience the countryside serenity and warmth from people, not too far away from the city. To find out more, visit their website here.
P.S: Gather your horde of friends and take credit for discovering this beautiful property that only asks for 2 hours of travelling time from Mumbai. While I get over this trip, share this with your favourite humans and take them along. Until next time, #StayCurious 🙂
