Last time we discovered an amazing homegrown web series in Little Things’ trailer, turns out the Indian web circuit has decided to not disappoint us. This week I stumbled upon yet another Indian web series trailer which speaks of every Indian middle-class family.
Titled The Aam Aadmi Family, this trailer by The Timeliners presents instances true to every Indian middle-class household. A slice of life presentation this web series’ trailer is every Indian middle-class family, ever. Why the emphasis again? Read on…
1. Ill-planned homes: When Bobby, the son can’t ‘find’ a wall suited to fit the LED TV, he points,”Ghar hi pura galat banaya hai,” (The entire house is built incorrectly.) He isn’t wrong, old middle-class homes never have an interior designer to create a planned home, instead, they add furniture and decor year after year resulting in one ill-planned home.
2. Trend stiff/ Society sensitive mom: When Sonu, the daughter insists her mom on trying something that’s in, (in trend) she is reluctant and replies, “In ho ya out, log kahengay budiya ko jawaani chadh gayi hai.” (Be it in or out, people will call me indecent). Now isn’t that a typical middle-class woman’s trait? She doesn’t read glossy magazines to be aware of the trends and more so governed by Log kya kahengay? (What will people say?)
3. Nosy neighbour: He knows what’s happening at Sharmas’ more than they probably know. He’s that nosy neighbour who’s mostly annoying to the owners but thoroughly entertaining to another person. How else is a middle-class household complete, without a nosy neighbour?
4. Chaotic coma: There exist many elite homes where people remain unaware of each other’s lives but speak of a middle-class home such as the Sharmas’, there’s ‘noise’ to every footstep and breath, or what I call a chaotic coma.
P.S: The Timeliners has invested in a setup never seen before in a web series, it’ll be refreshing to witness a family tale on a digital screen as the first episode releases today. Until next time, #StayCurious
