If you’ve been keeping up with us, it’s sure been established that we practice, preach, perhaps even endorse the staycation culture, because why not? Sometimes, all you need is a home away from home nestled in a beautiful setting that makes you witness views, (Figuratively and literally) that are often missed in the mundane of Mondays.
In the pursuit of exploring a new place, people, and of course happiness (Virtual high five if you get the bad pun and the reference!) we set out to the bloggers retreat at Chariot Beach Resorts in Mahabalipuram.
Those of you who are wondering where this tongue twister town is? Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram is a quaint town tucked between the Bay of Bengal and the Great Salt Lake in Tamil Nadu. Since it was not only our first time to the town but the state itself, we were excited to witness picturesque landscapes, hear stories, and come back with postcard-esque photos.
Away from the hassle of the city, we arrived at lusciously green guarded Chariot Beach Resorts with the sound of drumrolls and Tamilian flute sitar welcoming us. The traditional sandalwood Tilak and seashells garland had us beachbound to the enormous resort!
When we say enormous, we stand true to our word because how else do you describe a resort with a private beach view, an Ayurveda spa centre, two restaurants, a dedicated adventure activity zone, a beautifully spread out lawn and our favourite, a full Olympic sized swimming pool?
The vintage fashioned cottages lead to huge rooms allowing one ample of living, dining and chilling space (Because those king-sized beds can be a sleepy head’s best friend.) The sit-out from the cottage lets you soak in the vibe of the place as you hear the whispering of waves, the chirping of the birds and the thrill of a buggy ride as guests pass by all day in the 42 acres property
Kapi, the in-house multi-cuisine restaurant is a foodie’s delight with its well-crafted menu suited for everyone from a connoisseur to a picky eater.
The breakfast at Kapi restaurant is worth the morning alarm, which you probably won’t need if you wish to chase the sunrise and beach waves like us (When you have a private beach view, it is criminal to music the sky painting in hues of the sun.)
During our stay, we made sure that catching the sunrise was on our priority to-do list. While we witnessed the morning goodness illuminate the beach and the golden sand shone bright, we hopped on the Catamaran ride to catch a glimpse of the submerged temples (Yes, there are temples under water, which can be witnessed in the sea’s reflection!)
Speaking of the sea, you can find enough of Vitamin Sea (Pardon the puns) at the Coast restaurant by the beach. While vegetarian humans like us aren’t the best judges of the food, our fellow bloggers were all praises for the coastal delights!
If beaches are the first step to a heaven gateway, a spa is a knock on its door. Our knock on the door opened straight to paradise because we indulged in a spa with a beach view. While we unwinded in an Ayurvedic spa therapy, the beach waves hummed a lullaby.
P.S: We will be back with more stories to tell you from our getaway at Mahabalipuram, but we sense that you’re longing a trip to this beautiful beach resort as well. The good Samaritans at Chariot Beach resorts were listening and they’ve offered you a unique discount code. Head to this link http://www.chariotbeachresorts.com/ and use the code Seema500 to avail the same. While you begin to plan your trip there, until next time, #StayCurious 🙂
