The mundane of Mondays can be exhausting and excruciating if you may, how does one keep their sanity and curiosity in check? (The latter is extremely important you see!)
Surfing through our favorite book, Google or let’s just say our curiosity was being its usual web trotter self, we stumbled upon the word, Meriggiare. An Italian term for escaping the scorching heat of the day and resting under the shade. We found an instantaneous admiration and relatability for the word, because we too practice the same. At regular intervals, we find a shade (haven as we fondly call it) to take a staycation, allowing ourselves the mindful break we all deserve.
This time on our getaway paradise was Alibaug, a coastal town, which is a 45-minute ferry ride away from Mumbai. Blending well with the coastal surrounding, we found ourselves at U Tropicana, Alibaug for tropical vibes, good food, walks/experiences across the sprawling property (we will tell you more about in another post) and an exquisite Balinese style villa (Rather better.)
We know we piqued your interest with the villas, it did ours too, so read on as we recall our tropical staycation and tell you how you can experience Balinese villas in India at U Tropicana, Alibaug.
While the property has embraced modernity, it continues to stay true to its Indian roots. It’s the first thing that comes to your notice as the hospitable staff dressed in their Indi attire welcomes you with a traditional aarti and garland and a welcome drink. (We were greeted with some tender coconut water, the perfect start to our tropical paradise getaway.)
As the staff unlocked the door to our abode, the first thing that caught our sight and definitely heart was the gorgeous private pool (Read this on an enthusiastic high pitch and you will exactly sense the excitement one feels looking at the artistically crafted swimming pool.) The hexagon pool starting from the entrance extends all the way uptil the end of the villa where loungers are placed on the wooden deck for your ease. Doesn’t that sound like a Balinese villa setup? Only thing, it is much better and closer to home!
The ground floor room (Where we parked our presence and happiness has a direct access to the pool, by direct we mean the pool is exactly two steps away) The spacious living room too enjoys a direct walk-in to the deck area, allowing one to dive in and take laps in the pool.
If you enjoy unwinding in the pool like we do, the evening by the pool is a visual and mental treat for its serenity. We enjoyed the evening chills of the pool by some warm French fries and a burger.
The cosy bedroom is equipped with all the amenities you would require with an extended sit-out and lawn area. And true to its vacation vibe, the bathroom also extends to a roofless shower.
A large TV set in the living room can hook you if you’re looking to catch on a movie, we decided to do just that and opt for dine-in which was extremely quick and well serviced for every meal course. Pro tip: Their barbecue starters and brownie are pretty much what happiness on a platter look like. Since we are talking food, the apple kheer is to die for. (That’s all the details we’re spilling on food, you have to wait for the next post for more!)
The cosy bed can make you ditch the morning alarm, we listened to ours but didn’t part ways with the bed and called for breakfast in bed (Read: Huge scrumptious spread. And if you too like to start your day on a healthy note, the fresh fruits variety are a definite yay! However for a balanced diet, don’t miss the muffin :P)
Given that this 4 BHK villa has a gated entry allowing you privacy, a pool (Every villa has its independent pool), a bar space, in-room dining options, it is about ideal for a new year eve getaway with your bunch of friends and a bachelor/bachelorette party!
In fact, getaways don’t need any occasion. Get on a ferry or drive away with your family and call it a party in this humongous space that’s only an odd hour away from Mumbai! If you’re not a Mumbaikar but plan a visit to the maximum city, block a getaway to this tropical paradise.
P.S: While we see you restlessly jump to book your experience of Balinese villas at U Tropicana, Alibaug, until next time, #StayCurious 🙂
